Join ULI San Antonio Young Leaders for an intimate tour of the new Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk hotel with developer, Patrick Shearer, President of Crockett Urban Ventures. Finish off the evening with a complimentary drink and appetizers at the amazing Otro Bar on a terrace overlooking the San Antonio River and downtown.
The 21 stories that make up the newest hotel tower on the San Antonio River Walk are perched solidly on a 0.14 acre footprint. The Canopy by Hilton at 123 N. St. Mary’s St. opened in late April after four years of construction, and three years of planning prior to that. The result is a contemporary tower with 195 rooms and a foundation that occupies every inch of its 5,000-square-foot site along the River Walk. Designed by LakeFlato and Gensler, the structure ascends up past neighboring buildings and the cypress treetops, and “borrows” more space by cantilevering, or overhanging, downtown streets and the historic Esquire Tavern. By blending the old and new, the building reflects the city’s character as a destination and will do so for many years to come.
Otro Bar, occupys a sprawling 2,775-square-foot space on the hotel’s third-floor terrace, offering guests a panoramic view of the city’s River Walk. Otro Bar focuses on agave-based cocktails rounded out by a selection of craft beers and wine with non-alcoholic cocktail options available. A limited selection of appetizers, tacos and other bar nibbles are available on the menu.
