Development 360
Development 360 is a mentoring program for ULI members that provides an in-depth case study of one of San Antonio’s most exciting real estate projects, facilitated by a prominent local developer. The program provides a detailed overview of a real estate project, from start to finish utilizing a set course curriculum that teaches the process of real estate development. Participants will also foster long lasting professional relationships through close collaboration with other San Antonio real estate professionals.

John Kirk

John joined Embrey in 2012 and has nearly 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. John is responsible for overseeing and managing the production and execution of the Embrey development pipeline across all markets including Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Tennessee, Florida and North Carolina.
He was a recipient of the SABJ’s 2019 “40 Under 40” award which recognizes rising business and community leaders. John appreciates and enjoys the opportunity to mentor and cultivate future leaders in our industry. He supports Embrey’s internship program and the Embrey Real Estate Finance and Development program at UTSA.
John earned a B.S. in Construction Science and a Master in Land Economics and Real Estate from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M. He was a scholarship athlete, earning four letters as an offensive lineman on the football team. John is active in ULI and is a member of the San Antonio Real Estate Council. John is active with his church and believes in supporting, building and giving back to his community. John enjoys hanging out with his wife of over 17 years and his three children, coaching youth sports, attending Texas A&M Football games, guest lecturing at Texas A&M and the outdoors.

DEVELOPMENT 360 CURRICULUM & MEETING SCHEDULE
Curriculum: The curriculum is based on the Development 360 Case Study and follows the life of the project’s development from concept to completion. Typical curriculum begins with site selection, due diligence, and market research, goes through the phases of permitting, design, and construction, all the way to marketing and lease-up.
Meeting Schedule: Curriculum is divided into 6 sessions, taking place over the course of 12 months. Sessions follow a pre-determined curriculum designed by the developer and based on the case study site. Meetings feature guest speakers, presentations, and study assignments.
Upon acceptance into the Development 360 program, 100% attendance is expected over the course of the program. If you are unable to make a meeting, you should inform ULI Staff and Development 360 chairs.

Please have your ULI Membership ID, a current biography, a headshot, and letter of support from a current or former manager ready in order to complete this application. You may purchase a ULI Membership or obtain membership information by calling ULI Membership services at 1-800-321-5011 or by emailing membership@uli.org. Please note, that non-members are still eligible to apply, though upon acceptance would be required to join. If you are applying as a non-member, please respond with N/A in the application field that asks for membership ID. All applications are collected online.
A letter of support from a real estate professional or colleague is required. Letters of support should be uploaded to the online application. We recommend having all information and required materials ready before you begin. For any issues or questions, please email Janis.Ploetz@uli.org.
Upon acceptance to the program, there is a required program fee of $350 per person payable prior to the beginning of the program on January 13, 2021. Included with your participation is:
- All class materials (offered digitally)
- A copy of Professional Real Estate Development: The ULI Guide to the Business ($100 value)
- A certificate of completion at the close of the course
- Lunch will be provided at in-person meetings
