    Join us as City of San Antonio’s planning department take us inside the SA Tomorrow plans and processes. They are tackling the tough issues and making the hard choices because “business as usual” isn’t good enough. Join us to hear them describe how they are planning these projects to ensure that San Antonio captures the type of growth and economic development that is compatible with the community's vision of the future and provides the benefits to current and future residents.

    The overview of the SA Tomorrow planning program will include ongoing Sub-Area plans, the Bandera Road Corridor Plan, and the Goliad Road Corridor Revitalization Plan. The presentation will highlight the importance of these planning efforts, successful outcomes from the plans, interagency collaboration efforts, and the department's commitment to community engagement and equity.

    Rudy Nino, Jr., AICP
    Interim Director
    City of San Antonio Planning Department
     
    Rudy Nino has served as the Assistant Director for the City of San Antonio’s Planning Department since 2016. Rudy began his career with the City of San Antonio following five-plus years working with the North Central Texas Council of Governments in the environmental planning field. Since joining the city in 2005, he has worked in a number of progressively responsible roles in both the Planning Department and the Development Services Department (land development). His positions in the Planning Department have included oversight of: City’s Comprehensive Plan update: SA Tomorrow; Annexation; Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) programs; long-range community and neighborhood planning, current planning, urban design reviews, corridor planning, and zoning.

    Chris Ryerson, AICP
    Planning Administrator
    City of San Antonio Planning Department

    Chris Ryerson is currently a Planning Administrator and has been with the City of San Antonio’s Planning Department for six years. His primary role is to oversee the implementation of the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan and the development of 30 Sub-Area Plans across the City. Prior to joining the City of San Antonio, he worked in several roles at Economic & Planning Systems (EPS) and was a Project Manager in the Denver office of the urban planning and design consulting firm, MIG. Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of Colorado-Boulder and spent approximately 20 years in the restaurant business, including work as a sommelier and wine director at restaurants in Denver, New York, and Oakland. He earned his Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado-Denver.  
     
     
    Channary Gould
    Planning Coordinator

    Channary Gould is currently a Planning Coordinator and has been with the City of San Antonio's Planning Department for close to five years. Prior to relocating to Texas, she served as a Real Estate Development Manager for the County of Orange's Executive Office where her primary role was to leverage the County's real estate assets to generate revenue. She also served as the Manager of Current and Environmental Planning for the County of Orange where she managed the processing and review of all current and environmental projects within the County's unincorporated areas. She started off her planning career in the private sector after she earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Economics from University of California, Santa Barbara. While working as an Associate Planner for Hogle-Ireland (based in Irvine, CA), she earned her Master's in Urban and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona. She currently serves as the Director-Elect for the Southwest Section of Texas APA. 
     
    Ana G. Villarreal

    Ana Villarreal is a Senior Planner for the City of San Antonio, tasked with supporting the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan through the development of different sub-area plans within the City. In her four years with the City, she has also played a role in the planning of large area rezonings, and served as an equity trainer to examine Planning’s decision-making process through an equity lens.

    Prior to joining the City of San Antonio in 2019, Ana received her bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Texas at Austin, and a master’s degree in Architecture from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Ana started her career in public service with the City of Laredo Planning Department where she worked on areas that range from rezoning, platting, and annexations. Ana has served as liaison for the City of Laredo’s Historic Preservation Board, and the Board of Adjustments. Currently, she serves as Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Laredo and is active with the Congress for New Urbanism San Antonio Chapter, positions that maximize her experience in cultivating relationships with diverse groups, and her passion to bring people together to find creative solutions.
