    Join ULI San Antonio during your morning coffee to hear about new developments in the city’s upcoming benchmarking program, and the opportunities it provides to improve energy use, lower costs, and make your assets more competitive in a changing market. Speakers will include local and national real estate sustainability leaders sharing their perspectives on benchmarking and an update from the Office of Sustainability on San Antonio’s benchmarking work so far.

    Jason McIntyre, LEED AP O and M, FMP
    Director of Real Estate Operations and Sustainability, USAA Real Estate
     
    Jason McIntyre is the Director of Real Estate Operations and Sustainability for USAA Real Estate.  He joined the company in April of 2014 as a national property operations manager and now, as the sustainability director, is USAA Real Estate’s internal sustainability subject matter expert where he oversees sustainability initiatives from the asset level to the overall company level.  This includes LEED certification and ENERGY STAR benchmarking and recognition at the asset level, company recognition such as ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year, and corporate/investor reporting such as GRESB and investor due diligence questionnaires.  Jason is a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Operations and Maintenance (LEED AP O+M) and has a degree in Facilities and Property Management  from Brigham Young University.
     
     
    John-Paul Crowe
    Manager of Sustainable Real Estate, Unico Properties
     
    John-Paul Crowe helped Unico’s SLC portfolio adopt their benchmarking ordinance and has published a paper on the matter. He is an Energy & Resource Management Specialist with experience in the retail, hospitality, commercial, industrial and agri-business sectors. JP is also a specialist in incentive-based strategies for sustainable resource management. He has a background in environmental management, which underpins his commitment to a healthy environment by driving efficiency improvements within business strategy and the built environment.
     
     
    Doug Melnick. AICP, CIN-A
    Chief Sustainability Officer, City of San Antonio
     
     Douglas Melnick, AICP, CNU-A, was named the City of San Antonio’s first Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) in March 2014. As the City’s CSO, Doug is responsible for the overall leadership of the Office of Sustainability, as well as the City’s sustainability efforts & environmental policy. Doug is a dedicated public servant who believes that leadership is about vision, cooperation and creating a work environment that challenges and empowers all staff to create and problem solve to plan for the future. Mr. Melnick previously worked for the City of Albany, New York where he served as the Director of Planning and concurrently as the Director of the Mayor's Office of Energy & Sustainability. He worked to make the City of Albany, the Capital of New York State, a better community through the integration of all aspects of municipal operations with the concept of sustainability.

    Marta Schantz is the senior vice president for the Urban Land Institute’s Greenprint Center for Building Performance at the, a worldwide alliance of real estate owners committed to improving the environmental performance of the industry – reducing carbon, and increasing building value. Recent focus areas range from City/Real Estate Partnerships for Climate Policy, to Embodied Carbon in Real Estate, to Class B/C Office Energy Efficiency. 
     
    Before her time at ULI, Marta consulted to utilities and real estate at Waypoint Energy, performed federal energy consulting at Booz Allen Hamilton, and conducted energy project cost analyses at the US Department of Energy. Marta is a LEED Green Associate and a Fitwel Ambassador.
