    Andy currently serves as the PwC’s Director of Real Estate Research. As the Director of Real Estate Research and is responsible for monitoring all aspects of commercial and residential real estate, including space market fundamentals, capital market trends, regulatory changes and operational developments. For the past seven years, Andy has led PwC’s participation in the development and production of the Emerging Trends in Real Estate publication.  Andy is a frequent speaker on issues affecting the real estate market and has also authored numerous articles for internal clients and national real estate publications.  Andy also forecasts market performance for PwC’s “Real Estate Investor Survey”.
     
    Andy has over 30 years of experience in all aspect of commercial and residential real estate research.  Andy has performed and managed real estate fundamental analysis and forecasting, portfolio construction, and buy/sell decisions for both debt and equity clients. Prior to assuming his current role, Andy served as the Managing Director of Real Estate Research for Principal Global Investors, a top 10 institutional real estate manager in the U.S.  At Principal, Andy held a progressive level of analyst and management positions over his 25-year career and served as a voting and advisory member on a multiple real estate debt and equity investment funds.

    Michael is the CEO of Kairoi Residential providing strategic direction and leadership across the entire corporate platform. He is a co-founder of the acquisitions and development partnerships in 2003 and 2006 respectively, as well as a founding partner of Kairoi. Michael has been deeply involved in the multifamily business as an owner and operator since 1995. His 25 years of experience make him an expert in the fields of multifamily management, investment, and development. Michael has invested in, developed, and disposed of more than $5.7 billion of real estate over the past 15 years.
     
    He has a valuable network of relationships with institutional joint venture partners, lenders and property owners which he has developed over his career. Michael graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance. He is the Chairman of the Board for Alamo Regional Mobility Authority as appointed by the Governor. In connection with his role as Chairman, Michael serves on the Alamo Area MPO Transportation Policy Board and in the San Antonio Mobility Coalition. He also serves on the Advisory Board for The Bank of San Antonio and The Bank of Austin. Michael plays a large role in the San Antonio business community as well having previously held the position of Vice Chairman and currently serving on the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. When Michael isn’t busy at the office or in the San Antonio community, he enjoys being on the lake, skiing, traveling, and listening to live music.
     
     
    Peter McLaughlin
    Executive Managing Director

    Peter (“Pete”) McLaughlin serves as Executive Managing Director for USAA Real Estate, overseeing the Asset Management, Property Operations and Treasury functions while sharing responsibility for COO functions with Bruce Petersen.  He is a member of the firm’s Investment and Executive Committees.
     
    Prior to joining USAA Real Estate in 2006, Pete worked for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, where he managed a portion of the corporate bond portfolio. Prior to this role, Pete worked at BlackRock, having held positions in portfolio analytics, business development and portfolio management for the firm’s fixed income division. Pete received his Bachelor of Science from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, with concentrations in finance and economics.
     
    Kimberly Andrews Espy, Ph. D.
    Provost and Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs

    Kimberly Andrews Espy has served as the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas at San Antonio since June 2018. Under her leadership, UTSA has achieved record enrollment, with two of every three students identifying as from an underrepresented group. Student success also has cracked into nationally recognized heights — in 2020, first-year retention of full-time Roadrunners exceeded 80%. The number of undergraduate degrees awarded has increased 25% during the period, the six-year graduation rate improved by nine points to 50%, and time to degree decreased by 4 months. UTSA earned the Seal by Excelencia in Education in 2020, certifying the university’s intentionality in serving Latino students and achieving positive student outcomes. As a part of the Classroom to Career Initiative, students are gaining marketable skills through immersive experiential learning with health, industry, federal agency, military affiliated, and public service partners. With an intentional focus of diversifying the professoriate, more than one in four of new tenured/tenure track faculty identify as from underrepresented groups — a 26% increase in the proportion from year prior — and 86% earned their degrees from AAU or Carnegie R1 institutions. With distinctive faculty that also includes 5 National Academies members, scholarly excellence at an all-time high with total research expenditures exceeding $134M and record doctoral degrees awarded (1 in 4 of which are to students identifying as from underrepresented groups), UTSA truly is on the move.
     
    With more than two decades of higher education experience, Dr. Espy has earned a national reputation for advancing institutional, academic and student success, promoting faculty and staff development, and deepening university community engagement. As UTSA’s chief academic officer, she oversees nine academic colleges and the School of Data Sciences; the academic support divisions, including Faculty Success, Academic Innovation, Undergraduate Studies, Career Engaged Learning, Continuous Improvement & Accreditation, Graduate and Post-Doctoral Studies, Global Initiatives, Student Success, Strategic Enrollment, Student Affairs, and the Libraries; the UTSA Art Collection and the Institute of Texan Cultures, in addition to other offices that advance institutional success: Institutional Research and Analysis, Academic Finance & Administration, Academic Initiatives, and Academic Strategic Communications.

    Serving UTSA marks her return to Texas. Dr. Espy earned her bachelor's degree in psychology at Rice University and her master's and doctoral degrees in psychology and clinical neuropsychology, respectively, at the University of Houston. Additionally, she completed a clinical/pediatric psychology internship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine/Bingham Child Guidance Center and a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and is a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Espy is an elected Fellow of the American  Association for the Advancement of Science, as well as of the American Psychological Association.

    TOBIN CENTER SAFETY PROTOCOLS 
     
    We are blessed in San Antonio to have a spacious, state-of-the art venue like the Tobin Center to host our newly configured hybrid live/virtual Leadership Luncheons. The Tobin Center operates following state gathering rules of 75% capacity. The attentive Tobin staff is taking precautions to make this a safe event for attendees, including the following:

    1. All attendees will have their temperature taken upon entrance by a Tobin Center employee.
    2. Masks will be required for everyone when not seated.
    3. Hand sanitizer will be available in multiple locations.
    4. We will distribute red, yellow and green wrist bands so attendees can easily signal their comfort level
    5. Tables and theater seating will be socially distanced.
