Emerging Trends in Real Estate is an industry forecast publication with a 38-year history, and is the most highly-regarded and widely-read forecast report in the real estate industry. Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2018, undertaken jointly by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and ULI, provides an outlook on U.S. investment and development trends, real estate finance and capital markets, property sectors, metropolitan areas, and other real estate issues. The report draws on formal and informal surveys of real estate executives, investors, developers, and market experts around the U.S., including survey responses from over 1,500 real estate executives and personal interviews with over 350 industry leaders. Survey results relating to the San Antonio area market will be included in the presentation.

This year’s presentation will feature Mitch Roschelle, the US National Practice Leader for PwC’s Real Estate Advisory Practice, who will focus on trends to watch in 2018. Mitch will be followed by a cross-disciplinary panel discussion on the topic of the expected state of San Antonio area real estate in ten years. Mitch Roschelle is an accomplished thought leadership and marketing professional. With over three decades of consulting experience in real estate, corporate finance and capital markets, Mitch leads PwC’s business development efforts across multiple sectors. He is a thought leader and frequent public speaker. As spokesperson on a wide array of topics, Mitch is a regular guest in the broadcast and print media, including Fox Business Network and Bloomberg. Additionally, he is the executive producer and co-host of PwC’s weekly YouTube program known as 7DayYield.


USAA Real Estate Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer for USAA Real Estate Company (“USAA RealCo”). Jim manages the teams that are responsible for USAA RealCo’s asset management functions and asset dispositions. Jim’s remit also includes responsibility for USAA RealCo’s Capital Markets group, which sources and structures all debt financing on USAA RealCo’s portfolio and which also advises USAA’s Life Insurance Company affiliate with respect to its senior mortgage investment program. In addition, Jim chairs USAA RealCo’s Risk Committee.


Embrey Partners President & Chief Executive Officer

Trey rejoined Embrey Partners in 2010 after operating a successful apartment redevelopment business of his own for nearly a decade.  He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and made his career in real estate upon graduating. Trey explains his passion for the business in this way: “I am a builder by nature. I really enjoy seeing a product from the infancy of an idea to the completion of a successful ‘deal’ that creates value. The process of designing both the product and the experience of each project is personally rewarding.” Over the course of his career, Trey has directly contributed the development or redevelopment of more than 9,000 apartment homes. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and serves on the board of directors of the National Multifamily Housing Council and on the President’s Council of the Real Estate Council of San Antonio. Trey is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization. His builder instincts, experience and desire to make a difference impact his personal life, as well, inspiring him to serve on numerous boards and committees, including Habitat for Humanity, SAMMinistries, Furniture for a Cause and KIPP San Antonio’s Real Estate Committee.

HFF Managing Director

Mr. Taylor is a Managing Director in the San Antonio and Austin offices of HFF. He is an experienced and passionate capital markets leader who helps property owners maximize the value of their commercial real estate investments. Mr. Taylor offers targeted advice on how to increase cash flow and long-term value, as well as implementing a proactive and strategic marketing process that achieves maximum proceeds on a property sale. Throughout his career, Mr. Taylor closed more than $2 billion in regional property transactions in San Antonio and Austin Mr. Taylor joined the firm in July 2013. Before joining HFF, he was Senior Vice President and leader of the capital markets group for Central Texas at Jones Lang LaSalle. Prior to working for Jones Lang LaSalle, Mr. Taylor worked in the Capital Markets Groups of Trammell Crow Company and CB Richard Ellis.
