Walkable urban cores of central cities have experienced a renaissance. Single-use, auto-oriented suburban business parks are no longer the favored place of work. This trend seems like a reversal of the 1980s, when suburban edge cities gained jobs and population while the central cities suffered. This luncheon will explore, through recent case studies, how the desire for a vibrant mix of uses in a walkable setting may be at the center of this paradigm shift to urbanization, and how it can be accomplished in the suburbs.
Come listen and learn about three award-winning large scale mixed-use developments in suburban settings from two of the best minds in the business: Jonathan Brinsden with Midway, who will present CityCentre in Houston and Steve VanAmburgh with KDC in Dallas, who will present Legacy West in Plano and CityLine in Richardson. These two Texas developers will show how creating a walkable, mixed-use “sub-urban” environment can make suburban communities more competitive in this changing marketplace.
Jonathan Brinsden serves as chief executive officer of Midway and guides the company’s overall business strategy and operations. Jonathan is a member of Midway’s leadership team and investment committee.
