ULI & LISC HOST EVENT ABOUT ALTERNATIVE BUILDING MATERIALS

ULI San Antonio and LISC recently co-hosted a Lunch & Learn with a panel of experts in alternative building materials and methods in building affordable and sustainable residential homes. Presented covered manufacturing and processes of using rammed earthen bricks, recycled plastic blocks, fly ash panels and modern modular homes systems.

Representatives from the development community and the City of San Antonio Development Services and also presented their opinions and concerns to the panelists which was followed by a Q&A.

IBSI, Inc. creates high performance engineered modular panels that incorporate easily constructed interlocking male & female joints creating seamless walls and floors. These hollow core panels are comprised of recycled fly ash and plastic waste products, wood and glass fibers, fire retardants, smoke preventative additives and other ingredients. These combine to create a very strong high performance sustainable panel suited to a wide range of applications for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

MA Modular designs and builds affordable, modern, green homes based on a system of prefabricated modular designs.  Semi-customized homes are designed for each client based on 10 base designs.  Homes can be completed in 180 days and arrive to the building site 80-90% finished. Home packages include plumbing, electrical and appliances. Complete home prices start at $140 sq / ft.
