Downtown San Antonio has added another new hotel to its portfolio just in time for the Final Four.
On Thursday morning, Baywood Hotels CEO Nick Naik gave members of the Urban Land Institute San Antonio a peak at his company’s newest and 100th hotel, a 125-room Hilton Garden Inn at 408 E. Houston St.
The hotel features modern interiors, a gym, meeting rooms, a Garden Grille & Bar, and a rooftop deck and pool overlooking downtown. Maryland-based Baywood Hotels has developed 18 hotels in San Antonio and is working on two more, including San Antonio’s first dual-branded hotel near SeaWorld and a Tru by Hilton in downtown.
For Naik, Downtown San Antonio continues to be an attractive place for Baywood Hotels to develop.
“I think downtown is wonderful. It’s the center of tourism in the city, and it’s very vibrant here. It’s also nice to see that since we started this project, no businesses have gone out of business around here, which tells me this area remains strong,” Naik said.
Aside from Texas, the company also has properties in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, New York, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kansas, Georgia, Colorado and Washington, D.C.
