AWARDS FOR THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT – Nominations Being Accepted Thru November 3

The San Antonio Conservation Society is accepting nominations for its Awards For The Built Environment through November 3, 2017 for these categories:

1) Residential restoration/ rehabilitation;
2) Non-residential restoration/rehabilitation.

Restoration and rehabilitation projects include adaptive use (returning a building to a state of utility while retaining historic character); an addition to a building or complex that retains the character of the original building(s); restoring or rehabilitating the interior of a historic space that is regularly available to the public; and rehabilitation, improvement or restoration of historic or natural resources such as engineering works and landscapes.

The project must have been completed within three years prior to the submission of the nomination. Nine of ten awards will be awarded to buildings located in Bexar County or its contiguous counties.  One out-of-town award may be awarded to projects located up to 60 miles away from The Alamo, but outside the counties contiguous to Bexar County.  More information and the application is posted on the Conservation Society website at: https://www.saconservation.org/Portals/0/Events/NomForm2018.pdf

NOTE:  Applications must be delivered by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 to San Antonio Conservation Society headquarters, 107 King William St., San Antonio, 78204.  No online submissions will be accepted.

The goal of these awards is to honor those who have reached the highest level of accomplishment in historic preservation, and to recognize the highest quality of preservation of the built environment, in an effort to educate the public about preservation and to encourage further contributions in that field.
